I’m a little late with this review. My fault I picked up a small glut of comics from Chucks Comics last Wednesday and its taken sometime  to get through them all. Finally though I’ve marshaled my thoughts on this dark issue.

First off, everything is really starting to fall apart and fall apart fast in this book. The hammers have fallen and the chosen ranks are starting to form now. The Avengers seemed to be stunned into inaction, or just so over extended they cannot fight all the fires cropping up across the globe. The Asgardians have finally come home and The Serpent starts its Blizkrieg.

Review – Fear Itself Spider-man by Chris Yost

Fear Itself Spider-man

One of the things I don’t like about big events is the one shot series, During Shadowlands they helped give me event fatigue and all the one shot stories were pretty irrelevant to the main story. It hurt the series more than helped it and sent me into an event tailspin.

But… I am happy to report that Fear Itself Spider-man is nothing like this. This book is dark, scary and full of foreboding. Let me explain; you expect certain things from the Spider-man books, most of it his humor in the face of mounting adversity. This is almost completely absent in this book, you feel the fear that Spider-man is feeling, his total absence of humor is scary.

Welcome to the start of Marvel’s next big event Fear Itself, which promises to shake up the Marvel universe and it will never be the same again, again, again, again. How many times have we heard this? Okay, I will stop now.

The last big Marvel event was Siege which ended Dark Reign with a bang, and brought us into the Heroic Age. Almost straight after that we had Shadowlands and Curse of the Mutants. I didn’t get Curse of the Mutants as I’m not a huge X fan, but I did pick up Shadowlands  which I renamed One Shot Land, and it left me with event fatigue. Oh, hey did anyone even register Chaos War?

Now, we have Fear Itself and I’m not too sure what to make of it. We have some great social commentary at the beginning with a riot at Ground Zero, that sees Steve’s crisis of identity get larger. We shift to see what Sin has been up too and she has got her hands on some serious god like power that just seems to be laying around Earth616 as common as a Mocha Latte. Then we follow the Avengers to Asgard to announce Stark’s rebuilding plan.

Here I got a little confused, when did Odin come back? Needed to see a reference point so I at least know where to find that out. And he seems just as brash and arrogant as Thor was once accused of.  Spoilers after the jump.

Here comes Earl… Luckily I have Comics to Read…

Here comes Earl!!! A fairly large catagory three hurricane that is coming our way. All reports say its going to sideswipe us, but I checked the 1-2-3 column and the sideswipe is still going to hit us with Tropical Storm force winds.

Now I’ve gone through Tropical Storm Isabel when it hit here, so I know thats going to be wild and woolie to say the least. So tomorrow is going to be spent securing lose items just in case its gets a little too wild, and things start to fly!!!
