The Creator Spotlight shines the light over Dan Nokes of 21st Century Sandshark Studios of Paranormals, Pistoleers and Love Triangle in the Zombie Apocalypse fame.
Greeting, salutations and hello to all! This is writer/artist/publisher/founder of the Southern Maryland DIY indie comic movement: Dan Nokes! Who am I and what do I do? Well those are some long, sordid, and elaborate questions. So let me try to sum it up as briefly and succinctly as possible. Continue reading →

Okay Teddy Bear Army, here is the video preview of the Tristan and the Cuddly Defenders Graphic Novel. This is the printers-proof of the book so it contains some minor formatting and typography errors, but it is largely what the finished product will be. You can see the video after the jump. This sketch by Dan Nokes is part of his daily Quick Sketch Challenge where he asks you to challenge him to a illustrate anything from your imagination – you can click here to learn how to take part. I asked to Dan, who is also the artist for A Teddy Bear Tales to draw the Cuddly Defenders Tristan, Wilma and Archer surrounded by the Monsters under the bed. This is also a concept drawing for an idea I am playing with for the first Teddy Bear Tale comic…
Have you read Adam & Eve Bizarre Love Triangle in the Zombie Apocalypse by Dan Nokes? If you haven’t you should this is one well put together indie graphic novel detailing the misadventures of Adam the lone survivor in a military bunker who finds another survivor in another bunker via the internet. What follows is a buddy road trip type book as he takes to the road with his genetically altered Dog and a fairly snobby super-computer. All fairly simple… But no… This is trip full of Zombies, crazy survivalist and a great take on the human condition through some very humorous goggles. I really enjoyed the first edition and is one of Dan’s best books yet.
Now he is looking to combine both books into a Zombie Omnibus and is looking to you for help on IndieGoGo, look on it as really just pre-ordering the book with some neat extra goodies. I can tell you know this Graphic Novel is well worth your time. Check out his full IndieGoGo campaign here and my review of the first book here.
I had to share this pretty cool commission art by Dan Nokes, the Teddy Bear Tales artist and local indie creator. He was commissioned to do this piece at Baltimore comic con and it turned out great. Be sure to check out his other work over on his website at http://21sandshark.com
